Party Bag Essentials

Party Bag Essentials

Isn’t it one of the best times of the year? Everything is so colourful and festive. We are not far away from Christmas, which also means parties and gathering around with the loved ones. Before you leave your home, do you plan your party bag essentials or just throw random bits?

Most of us don’t like to carry big bags when we are out for partying, but we also need to carry around some essentials…

Ela’s Party Bag Essentials

Cash

Depending on where you are going or what you are doing, it is best to carry some cash with you, instead of your purse or credit/debit card. Whenever it is a party time, you will probably be out till late at night and you know you will be drinking, which means you will need cash. Also, if you drink alcohol and you don’t have a designated driver, you will probably be taking a cab so better have enough money for everything.

Electronics

Phones are essentials of the daily life and probably most of us can’t go a day without them, so make sure to have a space for it in your bag. Also, don’t forget to charge your phone before leaving or take one of these small power banks with you.

Lipstick

Whether you will be eating or just drinking, lipsticks is one of the essentials of a party bag. It is good to touch up your lipsticks once in a while, if you don’t wear one of these lipsticks, which won’t come of no matter what you eat or drink. Burgundy Lips with Maybelline and Cherry Lips from KIKO are definitely perfect shades for this time of year, so why not go all bold and wear something festive.

Powder

If you have oily/combination skin, you know that it might be hard to find a foundation, which will stay matte for quite a long time. If you don’t like having a shiny face till the end of the night, you better carry a powder like “Soap&Glory One Heck of a Blot” or maybe a blotting paper.

Perfume

If you will be out for long time in a crowded place, smelling good is a must! When you dance or just enjoying your drink and chat, there’s nothing worse than smelling sweaty, so better be safe than sorry and don’t forget to carry around a travel size perfume. Whenever you feel like refreshing up, spray some and carry on dancing! Also, they don’t take so much space in your bag and they are really light.

Do you downsize your bag for special occasions/parties? What are your party bag essentials?

  • All very important essentials. Great post Ela.

  • Great post! It is such a great idea to just take cash with you, it limits the risks of loosing the purse and also to spend too much money with the credit card without realizing it!

    https://fannyanddailybeauty.wordpress.com/

    • Thank you. Totally agree with what you say, it is good way of knowing the limits.

  • Great post! I would probably bring a small concealer too but you have covered all bases here! xx

    Beautylymin

    • Thank you. Concealer is a great thing to carry around. xx

  • I haven’t packed a party bag in quite some time now, but you named the essentials. The only thing I would like to add is a little concealer and some mints/ chewing gum.

    Linda,
Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking

    • I always carry some mints with me, I guess I forgot to add it to the list.

  • Just like you, I only carry my essentials when I’m out partying. Usually: cash, phone, keys, lipstick and blotting paper 😉
    http://carolinapage.eu

  • Your clutch looks incredible! Very festive and glam 🙂 really want something similar and you cant go wrong with a bright lip at this time of year! I love my reds, especially for Christmas/New Years xx

    Jenny | Krystel Couture

    • Reds are definitely perfect for this time of year! xx

  • I am the same and take a small bag out with me for the evening time and I carry around pretty much what you do too, or I make my husband carry the cash and I just take a lippy 🙂

    Pams Stuff and Things

    • When I am out with my fiance, I even carry smaller one. I make him carry most of my stuff 🙂

  • Kay (shoesandglitter)

Great list! I really dislike bringing my wallet to parties, but my trick for bringing cash is to only take a little bit and hide it in my phone case (at the back between the phone and the case). Lipstick and powder are always a must, I also like to bring my mini concealer with me in case I need to touch up my foundation. 🙂

  • As much as possible, I’d like to only bring things that I will be needing for retouching, my phone, and cash yayy hihi.. Hate it when I can’t party around or go freely because I bring something big 🙂

    • It is really annoying to carry around a big bag when it is really crowded 🙂 xx

  • The perfect essentials! Cute bag too.

  • I agree with you! I always make sure I have a powder and the lipstick I’m wearing in my purse! Thanks for sharing! x

Yup that covers it – I would just throw in some gum ;P

    Samantha Series | bloglovin

    • Yes to gum 🙂 I totally forgot to add it to the list 🙂

  • My party days are way long gone but I do carry lipstick, wet wipes, perfume in my bag because we’re heading to my in-laws for dinner. My dry face means my makeup usually stays in place but lipstick is needed for touch ups after I eat myself into a food coma. LOL!

Reflection of Sanity | Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Care Package Giveaway (Canada ONLY)

    • I guess these are the essentials for any event like dinners or going out for a coffee. You definitely need a lipstick which won’t smudge 🙂

  • Lipstick is a big “hell yea!”. It is definitely a must.

Angie | Chocolate & Lipstick | Beauty, Fashion & Lifestyle Blog

  • Red lipstick is a must! I have a party tonight and I’ll be applying it liberally

  • I always have perfume in my bag to freshen up during the day, also can’t go anywhere without taking powder with me!

    Rebecca Coco

    • Perfume is something I can’t go without, so I always carry one with me.

  • This is such a great post, I always have to remember to bring cash, because I almost never carry it with me. Perfume is another must for me, too!

    Paula
    Thirteen Thoughts

    • Most of the time, I hardly carry cash with me but my credit/debit cards however on occasions like that it is a must.

  • Great post! I always have to bring with me a mini hairspray and a hairbrush.. I always get so worried about my hair haha 😀 Also lipstick, because that’s the first thing that will fade during the evening.
    Emma xxx

    • I hardly brush my hair so I’ve never thought about carrying one with me, however it is a good idea 🙂 My lipsticks fade straight away so I can’t leave the house without one 🙂 xx

  • I almost always bring a little fragrance roller-ball or atomizer in my clutch! Lipstick too, of course!! I completely agree with your Party Bag Essentials! Xx

    Mummy’s Beauty Corner

  • My essentials are exactly like yours plus some tissues but I always struggle to fit everything in my party bag.

I wish they could make some expandable bags.

    http://www.mydailywear.co.uk

    • Ha ha totally agree with you. It would be great, however small ones are great for occasions like that.

  • This is such a wonderful and useful post, Ela! Especially for women who love big bags, like myself! We tend to stuff our entire life in them, so it can be hard narrowing it down to the essentials for what’s necessary for an evening out or party when larger bags aren’t the ideal; thanks for making the process that much easier!

I hope you’re having a wonderful day so far, beauty!

  • Nadia

These are definitely must-haves, hon! I always carry a ridiculously small clutch with me to NYE party or similar events so all that fits is some cash, a lippy and my phone + keys 🙂
And that’s it overpacked! 🙂 I love the idea about the travel size perfume, babe. It’s so nice to refresh your scent throughout the night, love it!
Do you have any special plans for NYE? 🙂

I still haven’t had any plans yet, I am sure we will come up with something. How about you, hun? xx

Power banks are a life saver! It’s so bad how much we need our phones, haha. I’d die without mine!

    • I have one somewhere in the drawer and I always forgetting taking it with me. It is probably time to recharge it and out it in my bag 🙂 x

  • The Sunday Mode

I’m so bad, I carry barely anything in my bag because I swap it out so often I just can’t be bothered transferring things. I think carrying around a small perfume is a really good idea though, I have a Jo Malone mini that would be perfect for that.

    http://www.thesundaymode.blogspot.com.au

    • I avoid changing my bag during the week, I just can’t be bothered doing it 🙂

  • powder, perfume, and lipstick are definitely in my part bag essentials as well!! I love to keep a good roller ball perfume with me.

    lavishingg.net

  • I always always always always forget to bring powder when I’m out, and it’s the most annoying thing in the world because I can get extremely oily. Even worse during parties! They don’t need a disco ball no more now that I’m there, ha!

May | THE MAYDEN | bloglovin’

    • Ha ha, I know the feeling! I have really oily skin too and it gets really annoying if I don’t powder up.

  • Lipstick for sure! I always bring a mini vial of perfume (carrying Jo Malone currently) with me to stay freshened up and not stinky! Great post!

  • I agree with you totally! Whenever I’m going out I always bring cash, phone, keys, my lipstick, powder and maybe perfume if it’s a dinner or something like that, not to go to the club.
I hope you have a great day, Ela! xx

  • Pam Scalfi

this is pretty much what i have in my bag also! 🙂 lovin the shade of that lippie and i must try the s&g powder. I am currently using the powder foundation from Rimmel and it’s pretty amazing!
    Pam xo/ Pam Scalfi♥

    • I like Rimmel products, especially the powder. This S&G powder is really good and light on the skin, which is perfect for a long day out 🙂 x

  • Ellie Adams

Love this post hun, the thing that I always forget to carry is cash, but it’s so essential on a night out isn’t it. Lipstick and powder also a total necessity!

    Elle

    http://www.theellenextdoor.com
    xx

    • It is definitely a must. I am so used to paying everything with card, so it is something I seem to forget a lot. xx

  • I actually have my work Christmas do tonight so have scaled down to a smaller bag and the things I have packed are – phone, cash, lipstick & perfume! 🙂 x

Brenda BusyBee | Win an Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

  • Sheridan Grady

I am so bad for never carrying cash! Forever having to make taxi drivers taken me to a cash machine! Perfume and powder are 100% must haves!! x

    http://www.shayholly.co.uk

    • Nowadays carrying cash is something most of us forget, I always use my cards x

  • Cash, powder, lipstick and my phone are essentials for me! I always take a pack of tissues too incase there is no toilet roll!

    Danielle’s Beauty Blog

    • Tissues are something I tend to forget most of the time.

  • Great list! I don’t really party at all – my idea of a party is just a small gathering, nothing too crazy. To me, a phone and camera would be most important to take with me – I love taking pictures, and too often I find myself regretting not taking my camera with me.

    becky ♡ star violet

    • I am not a partying person too, I only do it occasionally. I prefer small gatherings more than partying. I need a smaller camera when I am out, I don’t want to carry a big one 🙁

  • Yes cash! So simple yet I almost always forget to bring any and then am trying to find an ATM where I am. I definitely try to keep my bag on the smaller side if I’m going out. Otherwise I feel like it’s in the way and I’ll end up putting it down which isn’t always a good idea.

    • That’s why smaller bags come really handy, you can never carry a lot in them but the essentials. Cash is something I forget most of the time too, since I use card most of the time.

  • Im very minimal when im going out, basically my card, phone, keys and lipstick. Loving the bag!

    http://www.yourbeauty.ie

    • It is best to be minimal, instead of carrying out so many unneeded stuff.

  • You’re party bag is literally the same as mine! Don’t know how people carry a load of stuff on a night out! Lovely post Ela!

    BLUSH & NOISE

    • It is gorgeous, isn’t it? I like to carry as little as possible, I don’t want to worry about losing anything. Thank you!

  • I downsize quite a bit as I like to carry a smaller clutch bag or a side bag. I normally just include a lipstick, tissues, phone, camera if I’m going to an event, a lip balm and some cash, and keys! 🙂

    Velvet Blush

    • I should get a tiny camera for my small bags, they come really handy 🙂

  • I really like One Heck of a Blot and just bought some Tatcha blotting sheets which are pretty fantastic!

    • That powder is one of my favourite, I like how light it feels on the skin.

  • My essentials are kind of the same, but I also like having chewing gums with me, they just make me feel better 🙂 Have a nice weekend!

    xo, Esther

    http://bubblesther.com

    • I always have some chewing gums in my bag, I don’t know why I didn’t include them here 🙂 Have a great week, Esther! x
