Skincare Routine – New Addition

Skincare Routine with Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate | It is lightweight and fast absorbing oil, which will give fresh radiant looking skin.

For many years I thought if you have oily skin, you should stay away from oils, otherwise your skin will be even more oil. It turned out I was so wrong, it is one of the myths, isn’t it? I didn’t know that you could balance the natural oils with the facial oils like jojoba, grape seed, tea tree and clove oils, which are actually friends of oily/combination skin, so watch out for them. My latest addition to my skincare routine is Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate.

Skincare Routine with Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

My skin used to be oily, however, at the moment it is more like being combination skin. So I shouldn’t only look for products, which will balance out the natural oil but also give hydration. After reading through the ingredients and reviews online, I decided that it is time to give Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate a try.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate is really lightweight and fast absorbing oil. Once you massage it to your skin, the oil is basically gone and your skin feels softer. Even after the first week, you will notice the brightened and refreshed skin with a healthy glow. The main essential oils are evening primrose oils, which are rich in omega-6 and good at preventing water loss and as well as giving healthy looking skin. Lavender oil is for a calming effect and squalene for hydrating purposes with combination of jojoba and sunflower seed oil. Since there are oils which prevents water loss and gives hydration, the skin looks firmer and hydrated. If you are dealing with dehydrated skin, you should consider adding it to your skincare routine.

It has strong lavender scent and if you are not a fan of scented skincare products then this wouldn’t make you happy. I prefer unscented products, so it took me a while to get used to the scent, but using it right before going to bed actually helps me to relax and fall asleep easier. It must be the calming feature of lavender oil.

In addition, I have a sample of Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate and Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream, which I added to my skincare routine. The Daily Reviving Concentrate has a sweet citrusy scent, which is not as overpowering as Midnight Recovery Concentrate and it is fast absorbing as well. It gets the skin softer and glowing, also it is good to apply before the makeup too. I should get the full size, this duo is really good. I stopped using Super Multi-Corrective Cream after a week, it is really moisturising and my skin doesn’t need that heavy moisturiser at the moment, however, I am sure it would be good for colder months where my skin lacks of moisture. It is supposed to aim for visible sign of aging, I wonder if it actually makes a difference.

Have you changed your skincare routine lately? What are your skincare routine essentials that you can’t live without? Do you think all these creams and serums can prevent aging and give you younger looking skin or do you believe that you should also take supplements as well as a good skincare routine?

  • I’ve always wanted to try this product, yet I didn’t know the lavender scent was so strong, it’s such a shame I don’t have a Kiehl’s shop nearby, otherwise I would be able to see if I can overcome it!

    • I prefer unscented skincare products, once you open the bottle you get the lavender smell straight away and it lingers around for a while.

I have combination to oily skin and I couldn’t imagine not using face oils in my daily routine. I love how my skin feels after I use it. I tried the Kiehls Daily Concentrate when I asked for a sample, and I liked it a lot. I would probably purchase it sometime when I run out of the one I am currently using!

    • I wasn’t really into oils, however now there are so many I want to try. This one of my favourite so far.

  • I think these things help us age gracefully, while nothing can prevent aging. But I am not a big fan of too many supplements, we know too little about how they interact.

    • Nothing can prevent aging, unless scientists do something with DNAs!

      • And I would be pretty scared if they did. The only cells in our body that don’t age are cancer cells.

  • I have it too, its a wonderful oil! Actually im quite impressed with all Kiehls products lately, everything ive tried i liked.

  • I’ve been really fickle with my skincare as I’ve been testing lots of products but the one that I am currently obsessed about is Camellia oil. I personally have never read about it before because I always read about Argan or Rosehip oils so Camellia oil is completely new to me. So far so good but will definitely need to test longer.

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • I didn’t know much about oils, but after reading the benefits there are a few I want to try. I’ve heard camellia oil before, however I don’t know the benefits so I am looking forward to your review about it.

  • I haven’t changed my skincare routine yet, but I do want to try out new products to get my skin ready for summer. Hopefully I’ll get the Laroche Posay Serozinc Spray that you mentioned in the favourites, and I’d love to try out this oil – but not sure I’ll be able to treat myself to it at the moment. It seems like such a good product, and lavender smells do help with sleep so that’s awesome! 🙂

  • This seems like a great product for oily skin, which I have, too, so perhaps I’ll have to look into this one. I am using an serum which I love by Evanhealy and I love it! It’s also fast absorbing, so it doesn’t leave the skin feeling super oily and wet after applying. I believe that diet and proper moisturizing, including sun screen, are the keys to maintaining youthful skin 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great week so far!

  • Having oily skin I used to be scared of any facial oils but now I love them, although my skin is more on the normal side right now.

I’m a big advocate of the theory that taking good care of our skin will make us look our best for longer 🙂 Personally I prefer to get my vitamins and microelements through my diet but sometimes you might need to help yourself with some supplements if you really suffer with lack of something. x

    • I guess most of the people are scared of oils, I wish I had started using them earlier.
Good diet as well as good skincare are the keys of youthful skin. I am tempted to get omega supplements, they are supposed to be good for many things 🙂 x

  • I have stayed away from facial oils but would definitely give them a try if I felt like the benefits outweighed the negatives (i.e. massive breakouts!). This option seems like it would get along well with my skin and the lavender scent would be so lovely at night!

    • You should test a few samples, there are some oils cause breakouts and some that actually makes a big difference. Lavender scent helps me sleep well at night 🙂

  • The Sunday Mode

I think it terms of ‘preventing’ ageing it’s really just a combination of things. I mean you could have the best skincare routine in the world, eat the ‘cleanest’ diet and just in general spend a tonne of money on your skin but in the end if you get no sleep and are always super stressed all of the time, I doubt that’s going to keep you looking young, you know?

The Kiehls recovery concentrate sounds really good though, I love how it’s fast absorbing especially.

    • Totally agree with you! Nowadays there are so many factors to consider, like you said you can do everything right and just skip one important thing like sleep then all the effort is pointless.
