Whether you believe that your hair is your crowning glory, or it’s just another thing needs to be done before you leave the house, there could be actions that you are taking that are doing more harm than good. Luckily, in the post below I go through the most common hair running mistakes, and how to correct them. Read on to find out more.
Inadvertently Ruining Your Hair
Clean hair feels and smells great, but washing your hair twice or even once a day may not be doing it any favours. The reason for this is that too much washing strips the hair of its natural oils and resistance making it not only look fly away and be hard to manage but encouraging the excess production of oil as well. Yes, that right washing your hair too much can actually make your hair, especially the roots more greasy, because your body will try and rebalance the deficit!
Luckily, there are plenty of actions you can take to right this problem, the first being limiting your hair washing sessions to two or three a week maximum. Of course, while you do this, you’ll need to find another way of managing and styling your hair, and this is where dry shampoo comes in, something that can reduce the look and feel of grease and make your hair easier to manage as well.
Our hair is a part of our body, and as such, it needs the right mix of nutrients to function. Of course, what this means is that without the proper diet our hair can look unhealthy and in bad cases even thin and fall out.
Happily, there are some steps you can take to prevent this from happening. One being the consumption of enough water and a healthy diet rich in minerals and vitamins.
You may also choose to enhance your diet with hair growth vitamins as well. Just to make 100% sure that you are consuming everything you need for the healthiest hair possible.
Too much heat styling
Anyone that has ever use a hairdryer knows that too much heat can damage their hair. Of course, it’s not just dryers that we have to watch out for anymore but curling irons, straighteners, and other heat styling devices, all of which can damage the hair.
Obviously, the most effective thing that you can do here is to avoid using any heat styler at all, something that using foam or rag roller for curling can help you do. Alternatively, it is possible to get special oils and other products that repair and protect each strand of hair, making them much more resilient to heat treatment.
Brushing when wet
If you are brushing your hair with a regular comb or brush, while it’s still wet, then you may well be ruining your locks. This is because hair is partially delicate when wet, and while it may seem like a good idea to get the tangle out before you dry it if you don’t use the right tool you will do more harm than good.
To that end, always use a wide tooth comb or even a detangler that is designed for wet hair. If you want to keep from ruining your hair that is!
