I am sure many of us are using BB creams from time to time, but do we actually know what makes them different than tinted moisturisers? BB cream stands for many things like blemish balm, blemish base, beauty balm and so on… If something is called beauty balm then, we should expect a lot from them, right? According to Vogue, BB should provide moisturisation, SPF protection and sheer coverage which would be perfect for minimal everyday makeup. Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream is one of the good ones in the market.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream Review

Winter is always harsh to skin and we end up having dull looking skin unless you use tons of products to get healthy glow, but then it means using so many chemicals on your skin. It is really hard to get the balance, isn’t it? Luckily thanks to Asian beauty market, they brought up BB cream which would give us what we actually need.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream has always been my favourite BB Cream.  I mostly use it in winter because it keeps my skin hydrated with enough moisture and also I don’t really like dewy skin in summer (oily skin problem). When I want natural skin with minimal effort then BB cream is what I go for. It gives “your skin but better” finish, which I prefer for everyday effortless makeup! When I ran out of my regular Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream, I purchased a new one. Apparently I am not good at checking the labels properly and I ended up getting anti-aging version.

Even though I got the anti-aging one. I ended up using it a few times before giving it to my mum. It is as good as the original BB cream, but after a few hours it gets my skin oily which is understandable as it is for mature skin which is lacking of moisture.

My mum has dry skin and some visible wrinkles, I can’t really say it made any difference on the appearance of the wrinkles but her skin was looking fresh with even skin tone and according to her, her skin wasn’t dehydrated. I could say this BB cream is fragrance free, I can’t really smell anything. Like the original, it is really easy to work with; it blends in easily so if you’re in hurry, you can just apply it like your daily moisturiser, it gives natural dewy finish and doesn’t look cakey.

I don’t mind using anti-aging makeup products, but some of them just don’t give the best result on younger skin so it is important to know what your skin needs. What do you think about it?

Have you ever picked up the wrong product and ended up using it? What’s your favourite BB Cream? Have you used Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream?

I always pick up the wrong colour mascara and eyeliner I currently have a purple liquid eyeliner and brown mascara, oops! I love BB creams though for an everyday look and this one sounds great! x

    • Good to know that I’m not the only one 🙂 purple eyeliner doesn’t sound bad tho, you can try double winged liner x

  • There are so many variations of the same product nowadays that I always find myself checking twice the name, packaging and shade of the product I’m about to repurchase! Lovely review, I know a lot of my friends swear by the original version, I just regret there isn’t more shades!

    • Not only I picked up the wrong product but also picked up medium which is dark for me.
I try to check the products properly before purchasing but when I’m in hurry, I make bad purchases like this one.

  • I have used that one and while I liked the ingredients (I always check them when a product claims to be a BB cream) the lightest color was still too dark for me, so I didn’t repurchase.
The term BB cream is used by so many, covering different types of product that it is sometimes very hard to see if it actually is one or jus a light coverage foundation.

Linda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking

    • This one is medium and it looks dark on my skin, in order for me to use medium I need to get so much sun tan. Products like this don’t have many colour options, and I’m in between shade most of the time so it is hard to use them.

      • Yes, and the claim that they “adapt” because they are so light actually isn’t really true.

  • I used to really like the Garnier BB cream and I remember that it actually gives a very decent coverage. Those BB cream we can buy here are more like tinted moisturiser but the original Asian BB creams are really infused with some great ingredients to improve the appearance of the skin. x

    • I wish they would use similar ingredients in these bb creams too. Since they copy something, they should copy it properly 🙂 x

  • Trang Do

Great review! Love this Garnier BB Cream so much!

    Love from http://www.trangscorner.com {a lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and food blog}

  • I remember using this when it was first released & I quite liked it. My mother likes it in summer but I must tell her that there’s an anti-ageing version now! xx

    • I like the original one. Mum likes anti-aging one, she said it’s really moisturising x

  • I’m not good at reading labels either. I would have done the same thing you did. I have the normal Garnier BB cream and I love it. It is lightweight, doesn’t cover much, but it still feels good on the skin.

    • Bb creams are perfect for natural look, I use it when I know I will have a casual day.

  • I have also used the original one and remember liking it, thanks for the reminder on this one, I will have to pick it up again soon 🙂

  • I’ve never tried the Garnier BB cream, I’ll keep in mind you like it so much for the next time I’m in the market for a BB cream.
Whenever I pick up a product that doesn’t suit me I do the same thing you did: I pass it on to my mum! 😉

    • Luckily these products work on mums, or they just say they do:)

  • I have this BB cream, but also the original oneand I can’t say I love it that much. I don’t have oily skin, but after a while it becomes quite oily after using this. I don’t wear makeup every day, so I don’t feel guilty wearing foundation every time I do wear it 🙂 xx

    • I am not fan of bb creams and mostly use them when I need something natural. I prefer the original tho 🙂 x

  • Roberta Romeo

I don’t like very much bb creams, cause I think they are too light for my skin, and I need more coverage, but I guess bb cream should be the best cosmetic for my mum, as she wants a light and more natural finish.
    Thanks for your review!

    • For light coverage and natural looking skin, bb creams are the best. I’m sure your mum would love it.

  • I don’t use BB creams as they do nothing for me. They don’t give me enough coverage as I have a lot of blemishes and spots and they actually make my skin condition worse. I also have a very oily skin and bb creams just don’t do good for me 🙂

    -Leta | The Nerdy Me

    • I don’t wear them too often, especially not on bad skin days. When I want something light and natural, bb creams come handy:)

  • I love BB creams my favorite one is “The Body Shop/ All In One BB Cream”. BB creams can for sure be used on a daily basis; I have not tried the Garnier BB cream, but from your description of it makes me want one. Lol! I do use the Garnier Clean Daily Scrub for my face and I love it. Thanks for the review doll.

    • I haven’t tried many brands, garnier is one of my favourite. For natural and light finish, bb creams are perfect.

  • Haven’t tried this BB, must try it soon =)

  • I don’t use BB creams because I like some coverage as a base but I’ve been thinking of getting one from NARS! Oh my mom uses BB cream as well and she really likes it.

Miriam ♥ A whole lot of serendipity

    • I am sure Nars one would be close to the original bb cream.

  • High-five for a BB cream! 🙂 I also prefer a light coverage as a base and then I cover only what needs to be covered with a concealer, instead of the high-coverage all over the face. I believe a BB cream is almost the same like a tinted moisturizer, sometimes different names are just invented for marketing reasons to attract customers’ attention xx

    “Top Lipstick Collections” // http://www.keenonbeauty.com

    • Good marketing always work! I wish they were as effective as the original Asian version. x

  • Has this been reformulated from the original version? I used a Garnier one a few years ago, but I had an allergic reaction to it, it literally burned my skin! I’m intrigued to try this though.. Typical beauty junkie haha xx

    • I guess it is the new formulation. Luckily I haven’t had any reaction, maybe you better stay away from it 🙂 xx

  • I agree that anti-aging products need to be ‘just’ the right type or else they clash a fair bit with younger skin and don’t provide the necessary qualities. I love that you passed this skincare-product on to your mum to try afterwards by the way, I often do that too! 🙂

    • Whenever a product doesn’t work for me, I pass it to mum and most of them work perfectly on her 🙂 x

  • To be honest, I haven’t really found a good BB cream for my skintone. They’re either too much coverage or too ashy. So for now I’m happy in my tinted moisturiser corner! But the Garnier one is defintiely one of the more well liked ones. 🙂

    Advaita | Blush Canvas

    • I am not a fan of bb creams and I only use them when I want something natural and quick. I still haven’t found the perfect one, but the original one does the job. 🙂

  • I got a Nivea BB cream many years ago before the beauty brands started doing them, it was okay but I don’t think it provided much any coverage really. This garnier one sounds very interesting 🙂

    Velvet Blush

    • I got that too:) when my skin was in good condition, it looked pretty good but there wasn’t much coverage:)

  • I’ve never tried a BB cream before as I don’t trust the coverage and the shade range always look ps a little to dark for me! Great that your mum was able to make use of the anti ageing version!

    Danielle’s Beauty Blog

    • They only have 3 shades and I am in between so I hardly have a luck with it.

  • I used this cream before. Even though I bought the lightest shade, it was too dark for my skin. The consistency of thick cream average, does not fit me.

    Sincerely, Stacy
    My Sewing & DIY Blog

    • It is shame that they don’t have many shades. I am in between shade so they don’t look good on me.

  • I’ve never tried any of Garnier’s skin products before. You just made me realize something. I naturally have oily skin and I’ve been using an SPF that’s also age defying and I’ve been breaking out for a while now and haven’t been able to pin point what it could be. Now I’m thinking it could be the SPF because as you mentioned, if it’s for aging skin, it will provide more moisture and my skin doesn’t need any more, haha. Thanks for sharing, girlie! I hope you’re having a wonderful day and week so far 🙂

    • I’ve never thought it would make my skin more oily, I was so wrong. Have an amazing week, lovely! x

  • I tried this cream but sadly it didn’t suit my skin tone. However, my sister loves it.

  • Ira

The post is fantastic! I love it so much:)

  • awesome review, I’m a big fan of bb creams and I use them as a replacement for foundation all the time. this one sounds amazing

    xx Melis

  • I’ve heard so many great things about this BB cream, but haven’t tried it myself. I love Asian BB Creams I think they’re the best and always provide such great coverage.

    Thirteen Thoughts

    • I haven’t had a chance to try the original Asian version, I am sure it is way better than the ones on the market.

  • Ok so I never used a tinted moisturised or a BB cream! I just find that because I have combination skin, I rarely need hydration. But this sounds like a really lovely, light products. Sometimes I want a lighter coverage when I’m wearing make-up, so I think something like this would be perfect. I also have some foundations that don’t have SPF in either. So something like this would be a great buy, especially as Spring/Summer is coming.

http://www.youtube.com/veebzboo – Gold Smokey Eye with a Pink Liquid Lip

    • This would be perfect for days when you want natural effortless look. It gives light coverage, but doesn’t really hide the blemishes.

  • Katie

I constantly seem to be picking up the wrong product! Usually it’s not a big deal but I really need to start reading labels haha. The anti-aging BB cream might be for me, my skin is on the drier side and I’m running out of my usual BB cream!

    • I should read and make sure I don’t pick up the wrong product:) I am sure it would work great on your skin, if you find the matching shade.

  • I have heard great things and I will have to try this!

  • I’ve definitely picked up products for anti-ageing before but continued using them anyway. The Holika holika BB Cream I’m using right now is running out real quickly and I’m looking for a new one in the market. Perhaps i’ll give this a go; it sounds lovely!

    • I’ve used many anti aging products but for some reason bb cream version made my skin really oily. The original Asian bb creams are the best, I’ve heard a lot about them.

  • Ellie Adams

I definitely still use some anti aging products as I love how hydrating they are, I need to give this another go as the original wasn’t my favourite. Fab review hun!

    • I do that most of the time, but some products get my skin so oily that I stop using them. x

  • Great post..I love BB cream..)

  • Kay (shoesandglitter)

This is my favourite BB cream, hands down! I just think it’s so perfect for oily skin; some BB creams are just too greasy and cause me to break out, but this one is wonderful. <3 I like using it during warmer months, although admittedly, lately my skin has been pretty bad so I need something that gives WAY more coverage, so I stick to foundation. Thanks for sharing, love! Kisses. x

    • I only use bb creams when I want natural looking skin and light coverage. I have the same skin problem at the moment, it hasn’t been that bad before so I use high coverage foundations. xx

  • I’ve tried a few BB creams though not this one and found them lacking in coverage but I’d definitely give this a go after reading your review

    • It doesn’t give much coverage, it is perfect for days when you want your skin but better look.

  • I’m definitely going to pick this stuff up to try! I had some BB cream but recently had to throw it away just because it was getting old. I like having something light and basic to wear on the day to day because I don’t typically like to wear a lot of make-up other than nights out and when I’m taking pictures. My skin gets dry so this would eliminate the need for a moisturizer in the AM.

    • I am the same, I don’t really wear much makeup when I have a casual day. Bb creams are perfect and gives really light coverage. It is moisturising so it would work good on your dry skin.

  • I have no idea that they came out with an anti-aging version, I’ll hav ego check out how much it is in CAD. Anything that has the word anti-aging draws me in like a moth to a flame.

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • Ha ha, lately I am the same. Unfortunately this one is so much for my already oily skin.

  • I don’t wear BB cream because I want more coverage on a daily basis, and I’m always afraid that they’ll make my skin break out or shine too quickly, for some reason. We have the same type of skin though so it seems this Garnier BB cream would work for me! As for anti-aging products,t the difference you noted between the two creams is quite interesting – it means they actually targeted the two cream for the different needs, and that it’s not just marketing! 😛

    • When I feel lazy to wear full face makeup, bb creams come handy. Light coverage and natural looking skin is perfect for those lazy days. I had so such problem with the original but anti aging one so yeah it looks like it is actually different 🙂 x

  • I haven’t tried Garnier’ products in years! This one sounds lovely and it’s rare to find the perfect BB cream, I don’t usually wear one.

I did try a Loreal one once and it turned me orange, so I haven’t re-visited a BB cream since that little drama 😉

Great to hear that you’re impressed with this one! I may have to pick one up next time I’m in store.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Laura xx

    • Turning orange is my nightmare, I’ve had similar experiences so I know why you’ve never checked them 🙂 x

  • I’m a daily user of BB Creams because I feel they work best on my face and feel lighter too, which really, is all I ask when I use makeup. But I’ve never used Garnier. No idea why, I just never reached for it. It’s a shame that it didn’t work for you or your mom. Maybe it’s really just it was anti-aging? Then again like you said, it’s exactly because it’s for mature skin needed a bit of a boost. Still, I’ll look into the original one!

    Ella Pinto xx

    • Anti aging version is definitely better for mature skin, it gives so much moisture and my oily skin doesn’t need that:) x

  • Great review! I’ve never tried a BB cream…it definitely interests me now!

  • I too have the Garnier BB cream and can only use it during the winter months and I even wrote about it last autumn! 🙂 It’s definitely one of my faves. I haven’t tried the anti-aging one though. I don’t think I’ve bought a wrong product by mistake. But I guess I could relate to that feeling, because I’ve bought products I’ve been disappointed in first and after some time found them again and really liked them 😀
Have a lovely weekend girlie <3 Mwaah!

    • I like the original one, but anti aging one is not good for my skin, it makes my skin even more oily. I’ve purchased quite a few wrong products and I wasn’t able to return them back so now I have to be more careful when there are similar products 🙂
Have an amazing day, sweetie! xx

    • Asian beauty market is great, they have so many innovative products. x

  • I’ve used the Garnier BB cream before but found it too oily for my skin- the regular version, not the anti-aging version.

I can’t even remember the name of the one I’m using now, I had to switch to it as my regular B cream can’t be used in pregnancy. I’m looking forward to getting back to my normal one!

    Away From The Blue Blog

    • So does your skincare/makeup routine changes when you’re pregnant? I know that you shouldn’t really dye your hair, but didn’t know the creams would have some effects too.

      • yep I use some stuff that’s too harsh to use in pregnancy. And my OB wasn’t sure about the safety of my rosehip oil for example, so to be safe I stopped using it. I try use as few chemicals as possible on my skin in pregnancy. I also use that excuse not to clean up with household chemicals too often, haha! 😉 I try get more natural cleaning products instead of just whatever’s on special.

  • Bernadette

    This BB cream sounds wonderful.

  • On time I picked up an eyeliner pencil and used it as a brow product.. by accident. It was a real pain to get some of the turquoise out of my eye brow lol! This BB cream sounds nice though, I’ve only tried the one from Vichy and I really love it. It’s super easy to throw on for a quick errand run. 🙂
By the way, I nominated you in my beauty blogger tag! Have a great weekend 🙂

    • I did that quite a few times, now I double check before I buy 🙂 bb creams are perfect for natural looking skin day.
I just saw your comment, I will make sure to check it out 🙂 have a great day x

  • I don’t remember ever picking up the wrong product, but I have picked up a wrong shade of foundation and continued using it anyway. I just piled lots of bronzer over it! 😀

    • I did that too and haven’t noticed it until someone pointed out why I looked orange, shame on me 🙂

  • I thought i was getting the lancome sunscreen once and it ended up i got lancome’s moisturizer, it still was amazing though! I haven’t tried garnier bb cream before but I’ve heard mixed reviews!

    • It happens 🙂 I ended up picking milk when all I wanted to get was toner.

  • Oh my gosh, yes- #oilyskinproblems ! I have been wanting to try and find a BB Cream for day to day wear but I haven’t been able to find any pale enough to suit my skin tone!

    • The original Asian bb creams would probably have really light shades. I haven’t had a chance to try any original yet, I bet they are way better than these ones. x

  • I have exactly the same problem with bb creams- I find that it makes my skin waay to oily. I do like some anti-ageing products though, I find the eyecreams are great as the undereye area is always very de-hydrated

  • I actually tried this out today and love it! Beautiful photo!

  • I used to love Garnier BB cream but haven’t worn it in years now. I wasn’t a huge fan of the scent so I’m glad to hear they’ve removed it. Although it’s a great budget option, I have found better tinted moisturisers like the bareminerals complexion rescue. x

    Renata | Speaking Beauty UK

    • I like the original one, but the scent wasn’t my favourite as I prefer inscenyed skincare products. I’ve heard a lot about bare mineral ones. x

  • That’s really good that you were able to give it to your mom! I don’t own any bb creams, just because my skin requires a little more coverage. But I would love to use them. I like how companies are targeting products for people with different needs. Options are necessary.

    • When I have a good skin day and want something light, bb creams come handy.

  • Lauren Letizio

I currently use the Lacome Bienfait Teinte BB Cream with an SPF. I chose this one because it is labelled as non-comedogenic which is something very important to me. I used to use the Supergoop CC cream which I loved but it was just way to heavy on my skin and pore clogging, although has amazing SPF protection and gave a really smooth look to my skin.

    Blame it on Barneys

    • Lancôme one is on my wish list, I’ve heard a lot about it. I tend to stay away from heavy products most of the time as pore clogging is the last thing I want x

  • I’ve definitely picked up the wrong product and still used it. I tried an anti aging moisturizer this summer and it was a little oily on my skin, still wore it! Lol

    • Some anti aging products get my skin oily so it is hard to find one that won’t do that.
