Micellar water must have been one of the most used products since it came out. It is fuss-free and most of them end up removing most of the makeup. Well after a micellar water, it is no surprise to see micellar cleansing gel, right? Garnier Skin Cleansing Cleansing Micellar Gel is one of the new products in the market which promises to remove makeup, cleanse and soothes the skin. Good isn’t it?

Who doesn’t like finding a drugstore gems? There are a few brands that I can rely on and Garnier is one of them. I don’t like spending too much on makeup removing products and cleansers so when my trusty brands release new products, I make sure to give them a try.

Garnier Skin Cleansing Cleansing Micellar Gel is one of the products I wasn’t expecting much from. Micellar gel? Garnier micellar water is one of my favourite and I was expecting something closer to that but nothing better. I think I was so wrong judging it before giving it a try. One of the things I like about it is the pump. You get the right amount of product and it is more hygienic.

It has the same consistency of a regular gel cleanser and it is perfume free, so you don’t need to worry about it irritating the eyes. You only need one pump for minimal makeup and two pumps when you have something heavy. You wet your face and massage the micellar gel all over. I start with the eyes and make sure that it removes the mascara&eyeliner properly. Once I think it is enough, I wash it off with lukewarm water.

I don’t know how effective it would be with waterproof mascaras but it removes Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eyeliner without leaving any traces. Most of the time it removes almost everything. When I have heavy makeup and 3+ coats of mascara then I go over it with micellar water to make sure in the morning I don’t wake up with panda eyes.

Would I recommend it? I sure would! I’ll be honest, at first it takes a while to get used to removing the makeup with foam but you get used to it and it is good. It does what it promises, so I won’t complain. When you only have minimal makeup and have one of the lazy days when you don’t feel like double cleansing, you can skip double cleansing with this gel. It leaves the skin clean and feeling fresh, so there’s no need to add extra step to your routine.

What do you think about removing your makeup with gel&water? What’s your holy grail cleanser? Have you tried Garnier Skin Cleansing Cleansing Micellar Gel yet?

  • Well, I do like my micellar water, but I still don’t understand the benefit of this over a water? Is it meant to replace the second cleanse?

Linda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking

    • It gets foamy so it also acts as a second cleanser. When I have minimal makeup and feel lazy, then I just wash my face with this and carry on with other skincare products. It leaves almost nothing when you massage in well.

  • The Garnier Micellar Water is my most repurchased skincare product 🙂 I love it to take my eye makeup off with. I will try the gel for sure as I like that it comes with a pump but I’m not sure if I’d like it better then the water 🙂 x

    Mummy’s Beauty Corner

    • It is my favourite and I think most repurchased too 🙂 As long as I don’t have too heavy makeup, with this gel I’d clean the makeup without needing the second cleanse. If you try it, I’d like to hear your thoughts 🙂 x

Wow I didn’t know they had a gel! I’ve used the Garnier micellar water before and I liked it. But I am currently using a micellar water by Marcelle (canadian brand) and it’s really good, I’ll be sticking with it for a while.

    • I think I purchased it like mid January, it is a new product and loving it 🙂

  • This sounds great and I love the new design blog! Hope you are having a great start to your week!

  • I haven’t tried this new product yet as I’ve only just realised it came out haha. However I’ll probably give it a go! I’m using the Garnier Micellar Water at the moment (it’s been a firm favourite for years now!) but it’s almost empty, so next time I go to Boots I’ll pick one of these up! It sounds quite good, and I never wear waterproof mascara so it should work just fine with me. Thanks for the review!

  • This sounds so refreshing! I don’t use Micellar waters often but I love the fact this is a gel, I feel like it would do a better job of removing makeup because it’s a bit thicker if that makes sense!

    • I think it removes the makeup way better than micellar water, also when you feel lazy to double cleanse then this comes handy 🙂

  • This sounds great! I like the Micellar water version but I find that if I use it too often, it is a little drying on my skin xx

  • Micellar gel?! Damn, here in Canada we haven’t even seen the gold cap or green cap Garnier micellar water making appearances and now there’s already a gel? We are so behind! LOL!

    • I think I purchased it around mid January, it is a new thing. I hope they will release it in Canada too, it is a good one 🙂

  • I love Micellar water as well, it’s the one thing in my skincare stash that I religiously repurchase time and time again. I really like the sound of this gel cleanser, combining a deeper cleanse with traditional micellar technology. I love the photography for this post, how did you get this shot?

    • Micellar water is one of my favourite way to remove the makeup, this one does great job too. At least I’d skip the second cleanse once in a while.
Thank you so much 🙂 Just played with morning sun to get that moody and shadowy look. You should try it too.

  • I absolutely have to try it! Actually the Garnier micellar water let me quite upset cause I don’t really like its cleansing power, especially for what concern mascara and eyeliner :/

    Thirteen Thoughts

    • Ah I never thought about spot clean the brushes with micellar water, I must give it a try 🙂 x

  • This sounds very interesting! I don’t know how I feel about wetting my face with water and applying a foam with makeup on though, I guess it’s just because I’m not used to it at all. I do love micellar water and I think it’s cool that they’ve released an innovative version of it that seems more convenient, since it removes and cleanses. Perhaps I’ll give it a try 🙂 Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far, girlie!

  • I’ve been meaning to try this for ages! So do you use it with cotton wool pads on your eyes or just on its own?

    • You just wet your face and massage the gel and once you are done, just rinse the face. It melts the makeup and leaves you fresh and clean skin.

  • Hi Ela, I like using micelar water but I have not tried Garnier’s yet. Thank you for sharing. I will give it a try!
