Do you believe in the power of red lipstick? Some people believe that red lipstick is confidence booster and make you feel way better when nothing goes right. It is definitely a confident booster and it will change your mood immediately. You might be mumbling “red lipstick isn’t for me”, trust me I was telling the same thing. Now I know how wrong I was! You can start your perfect red search with Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lipstick in 132 Caprice which is a true red and good place to start!

I kept seeing Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks in the stores, however, I didn’t really bother to check them. It must be the price as I don’t like spending too much on a lipstick. This Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lipstick was a gift from hubby, I found it under the tree. I must say hubby picked up a really pretty colour! You can imagine my excitement to try it, but of course I wanted to take photos first(annoying!) so I had to wait a few days but hey it’s all worth the wait!

Let’s talk about the packaging first… Black sleek packaging with gold rose on the top. You click on the gold rose to reveal the beautiful lipstick inside. The packaging looks way better than the older packaging, it is chic! I always fall for the packaging and I’m happy to tell that it is not only the packaging that will make you fall in love.

Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in 132 Caprice has cream finish. Lancôme describes cream finish as “a creamy luminous satin finish” and I’d agree on that. The texture is amazing! It applies so smoothly and evenly. There’s no bleeding as well. After applying it, you easily forget you’re wearing lipstick. Since it has cream finish, it doesn’t last for long hours(at least for me), which I won’t complain about. If I don’t drink or eat anything, it looks good even after 3-4 hours. For the perfect colour, I make sure to touch up once in a while, especially after having something to eat.

Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge 132 Caprice has cream finish. 132 Caprice is a true red with slight blue undertone. If you're looking for a red lipstick which could suit every complexion then this is what you need.

Caprice is such a beautiful and vibrant red with slight blue undertone. It is neither too cool or warm, it is just in between which makes it a perfect colour. It is a little bit similar to MAC Ruby Woo well think about it as a creamy version of Ruby Woo and lighter than MUFE M402. Red is not my safe colour, however, once you wear it, it gives you the confidence. As you know it might be hard to find that perfect red which will suit your complexion. I can easily say that 132 Caprice would be perfect for most of the complexions.

If you make sure to have sun protection in all your products, you’ll be happy to know that Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks have SPF 12 UV filter which protects the lips from premature aging effects of the sun.

Do I love the colour? Yes! Do I love the finish? I like it, but I mostly prefer the matte finish over cream one as they tend to last longer. If you like cream finish, then you should definitely check it out. As I said earlier, the packaging is a total winner. If you didn’t check Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks yet, you should really give them a try. Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge is £25.50, it is a good product to spoil yourself!

Do you fall for the packaging? What’s your favourite red lipstick? Have you tried Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge before?

  • Back to blogging and complete with a lovely new layout! You may remember that I adore rd lipsticks and own a lot of them, but none so luxurious. For me the cream finish is preferable over matte. I dont mind reapplying, I just can’t deal with anythind drying.

  • The packaging is so pretty and classic with the black and gold. I love the red color, it’s absolutely beautiful. However, with a red shade, I like one that lasts a little longer and doesn’t smudge, otherwise, it gets all over the chin area, which isn’t cute, haha! Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts on the formula and overall lipstick. I hope you have a great day!

  • This is such a gorgeous lipstick. I’ve been leaning more towards creamy satin lipsticks because they are way more comfortable than matte lipsticks. Though I don’t like how theyre not long lasting and how they bleed. It’s a tradeoff. Glad to hear that this doesn’t bleed though. I’m glad your back, and I’m loving the new layout!

    • Sometimes I am too lazy to reapply, that’s why anything that is long lasting would be my go to lipstick 🙂

  • Oh that is a beautiful shade of red! 🙂 My current (and only, ha!) lipstick is more on the coral side of red, I just haven’t found that perfect true red lipstick for me yet. This does look beautiful though, colour and packaging. What a nice gift 🙂

  • Hi Ela, it’s good to have you back! 🙂
The color of this lipstick looks really beautiful, but just like you for bold shades I tend to prefer a matte finish because it’s usually more low-maintenance.
    http://carolinapage.eu

    • Thank you 🙂

Low maintenance ones are the best, especially when you’re on the go!

  • That is such a gorgeous shade! And similar too Ruby Woo but creamy texture sold me completely since I have dry lips. And the packaging is sooo cute.. ahh I am getting this one now!

  • I’m so happy that you’re back Ela! I missed your posts 😀
Your husband did choose an amazing shade, such a bright, happy, seductive red! I do think that red lipstick usually gives you that boost of confidence and femininity. But I also agree that matte finishes are generally better as they last longer on the lips, which is not the case with cream finishes. It’s a shade because cream finishes are usually more comfortable on the lips!
