Have you ever heard about Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser before? It wasn’t until some years ago that I heard this brand, and it was after reading a newspaper article like “Ponds Cold Cream keeps Kylie Minogue young”. That’s when I decided to try it out. Is it really true? Let’s find out…

The main reason I wanted to give it a try was that I needed a cleanser and this one was really cheap, it was below £5. It is such a bargain for such a promising product, don’t you think so?

Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser is a thick cleansing butter. It doesn’t only remove the makeup and cleans the skin, but also moisturises the skin so well. The texture is close to The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter, which I really liked using (If you are interested in another skincare product of The Body Shop please check my post The Body Shop Vitamin E Sorbet. I’ve been using Cold Cream on and off for years. I mostly use it in winter (makeup removing waters make my skin really dehydrated in winter) when my skin gets kinda rough and needs extra care. You only need a tiny amount of it for cleaning the face starting from the eyes. It completely dissolves the whole makeup and in the mornings you don’t need to worry about having panda eyes, you know sometimes it happens! After using Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser, my skin feels so soft and it glows.

Let’s talk about the bits I don’t really like. It kinda has a strong creamy scent, which I don’t really like, because unscented products are my favourites. Also once you use it, you will need warm/hot water to remove the grease on your hands. Even though this cleanser might feel good on your skin, it definitely doesn’t feel the same way on your hands for some strange reason. Except these two things, I am really happy with it.

Would I recommend it? I guess I would. It is definitely not ideal for summer (especially if you have oily skin like I do), however, it does a good job for the days when your skin needs extra hydration and moisture. The cream is also currently on offer at Boots.

And about what Kylie said… I haven’t used it that frequently to say anything about it, but how realistic is it? I am sure her young looking skin is also because of all the facials she gets!

  • Irene

very nice post! i haven’t tried it but i would give it a go

  • You know, I’ve never tried Ponds before, but have heard great things about how it removes makeup really well. I’ve just been hesitant because I have such sensitive skin and any little thing can cause either a rash or acne. So the thought of rubbing a cream and mixing it with my makeup has caused me to question if it would break me out, but I guess there’s only one way to really find out, right?! Thanks for the review, I think I may give it a try 🙂

I hope you have a lovely day and weekend ahead, beauty!

    • It feels weird to rub a thick cream on my face, especially on my eyes however it really removed the makeup properly. You better stay away from it, I don’t know how it would be on sensitive skin 🙂
Have a great weekend, lovely! xx

  • Kay (shoesandglitter)

I’ve never even used a cleansing cream before! I tend to stick to my micellar water for makeup removal, it works wonders for me. 🙂 This little cream I might try, though, the price is very attractive and I don’t think I’d mind the scent – I love fragranced products! Thanks for the detailed review, dear. <3

    • I tend to change the products I use depending on the season. Micellar water is the best for summer however in winter I mostly use cleansing balm:) Price is really attractive, in the end if it is not a great product, you don’t lose much 🙂

  • This sounds like such a cool product! I love this type of cleansers! Thanks for sharing! x

  • Let’s get this straight, Kylie remains ‘youngish’ looking because of plastic surgeon. LOL! I have used Pond’s, it was the first skincare brand which I used as a teenager and that my dear, was a different lifetime a go. Gosh….I do feel old. Haha! I haven’t used Pond’s in so many years, maybe I should check out what they have these days.

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • Totally agree with plastic surgery;) I haven’t used it frequently to tell anything about giving younger skin but I doubt it does. If so I should really stock up.

  • Ellie Adams

I absolutely love Ponds cream, such a classic product isn’t it. I heard recently from a PR that they’ve gone into administration… so hoping that isn’t the case!

    • I don’t know much about pond’s however I guess they’ve been around for long time. I hope it is not like that x

  • It is definitely gentle!

  • I wanna try this product on winter, i love cream cleansers! ❤

  • I remember see this brand when I was a young kid in Canada, and it was dirty cheap, like $1 cheap. Of course now that big names use it the price has “sky rocketed”. Okay, maybe not so much, but you know what I mean 😉

  • I tried Ponds a few years ago for about a 6 month period. Honestly it didn’t really do anything for me, but I’ve heard so many people swear by it. I think it’s more of a miracle worker for people with older skin. Right now I use Skindrink from LUSH and I always recommend it to friends & beauty/skincare lovers. What moisturizer were you using before you tried Ponds?

    • It didn’t do anything impressive for me however I just like how my skin felt after using it. I haven’t tried that from lush, I will make sure to check it out when I’m there next. I keep using different brands, I’ve been using L’Oreal and the Body Shop moisturisers lately.

  • Kiki Rampone

I’ve heard a lot of rave reviews of this! I have very dry skin, so maybe I’ll look into this, especially now that it’s winter. Thanks for the honest review 🙂

I want to try this especially for being under a fiver! I have oily skin too so i may not work for my skin too good!

    • In colder months my skin get complex and I need something rich to get rid of the dry bits, this is doing a good job at moisturising.

  • Yes, that Kylie Minogue thing is just an advertising expertise. I was really keen on buying this cleanser but my pal told me that it left the face greasy, so I didn’t purchase it. Nice review!

    • Advertisement is a big thing, even an average product can be shown great. I believe it is mostly ideal for dry skins so I only use it when my skin gets dry.

  • Ivana Džidić

under five pounds is indeed a great price for such a great product. It seems perfect for winter and I do need a good cream cleanser. Too bad about the smell and the fact it doesn’t feel nice on the hands, but I guess what matters the most is that it works on the face. All in all, seems like something to have in mind.

    Thanks for your review!

    • It works on the face so I try to ignore how it smells it feels on the hands. It makes my skin so soft when my skin gets really rough due to the cold.

  • Nice review Ela! I’ve never heard about it. It seems like a good deal, under 5 pounds and with that amount of product. I will check out if it’s on my local drugstore haha
Have a great day, Ela xox

Ooh this sounds lovely, especially with how dry my skin gets in winter. The price is amazing too! Surprised Kylie doesn’t use more high end stuff haha 🙂

  • Chelsey

I was bouncing back and forth between this and my normal cleanser when I was looking to save some money. I ended up not getting it for the greasy after effect you mentioned even though I have really dry skin. I might try that body version though!

    • This is the only product I’ve tried from pond’s and it does a good job at moisturising, even tho I hate that greasy feeling I still use it when my skin feels rough.

  • Interesting product , it’s like a balm cleanser ? Or is it oil based?. Sounds moisturizing enough fir the winter

    • It is in between however more like oil based. It is definitely good for winter.

  • Ooh I used to love this, it comes in a different (very plastic-y and cheap) packaging in America – but the one you have looks so gorgeous! Wish the one in the States come in a better packaging.

I think I stopped using it coz I got lazy from having to use a washcloth or large cotton pad to remove it. I prefer using cleansing oils now 🙂

    Stephanie | Beauty Bucketeer

    • When I googled it before getting it, all I saw was plastic packaging however this one is good but it is tiny, only 30 ml I guess.
I only use it when I need a rich cleanser and I have time to deal with the mess. Micellar water is my favourite:)

  • Cold cream reminds me of my mom and her beauty regimen – so nostalgic, but still so useful. I used to use cold cream in the winter to help with dry skin. I agree – it’s great this time of year, but not so much in the summertime.

    xx Yasmin

    • It is such a rich cleansing balm and my skin gets enough moisture whenever I use it. Since I have really oily skin most of the time, I can only use it in winter. x

  • Danielle

I have never used Pond’s products but my mom has. I also prefer unscented products. I don’t like that this cream leaves your hands greasy. Thanks for the review!

    • It os one of the downside of this product, except that it is really moisturising.
