Can we blame the Kardashians for the contouring craze or you were actually into contouring before it? To be honest, I wasn’t really aware of it until the photos of contouring went viral on the internet. This is how I met with contouring. Can theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer give you that defined cheek bones when you do contouring?

theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer Review

I wanted to try theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer for a while after watching plenty of Lily Pebble’s videos. All these YouTube videos and blog world make me want to use all the things I see there and theBalm Bahama Mama was one of them.

TheBalm Bahama Mama is a cool toned brown matte bronzer with greyish undertone, which is a perfect contouring powder and looks really natural on the skin. It is not highly pigmented, so you can easily build it up as intense as you wish. It is really easy to work with and it feels soft and silky on the skin.  I don’t really like highly pigmented blushes and bronzers, because I find them really hard to work with and if you have heavy hands then the result might not be good. You don’t need to worry about it getting patchy and also it won’t get cakey, which is actually really great. This will give you the natural defined cheek bones that you desire. Besides using it as a contouring powder, I also use it as a transition shade on the eyes and it works perfectly. If you like warm toned bronzers, then it might not be a perfect colour for you. However, I believe it would look beautiful on every skin tone.

theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer

Like other theBalm products, theBalm Bahama Mama has a cute illustration on the cardboard packaging. Even though it is light and easy to carry around, I am not a fan of cardboard packaging. I prefer Lou Manizer’s solid packaging better. It has a decent size mirror, which comes really handy.

I’ve been using it a lot since I got it and I’m sure it will be one of the most used bronzers for a while since I am trying to learn how to contour properly with powder.

Are you into contouring? What’s your favourite contouring product? Is there any tip you could give for beginners? Have you tried theBalm Bahama Mama bronzer?

  • I have heard so many great things about their bronzers and highlighters

  • I use Benefit Hoola Bronzer and sometimes I just find it a little too orange and muddy and it is very pigmented so can be difficult to blend out, I would love the try this one from theBalm 🙂 xo

    • It is really easy to blend out, and this shade would suit almost every skin tone. theBalm products are great, I am sure you’d like them 🙂

This looks like such an amazing beauty essential, especially in the winter months! Thanks for the review!

Heard so many great things about this product!

  • I don’t contour, it just doesn’t suit me, yet I would happily use this bronzer to warm up my complexion a bit !

    • I am trying to learn how to contour, however I am not good at it. This would look good on your skin.

  • I love contouring, I’m using the Sleek Contour Kit now but this sounds like a good one and it could be my first theBalm product. 🙂

    • I still haven’t tried Sleek one! This one is great, give it a try 🙂

  • I love to contour. I usually use my Kevyn Aucoin powder because it’s super cool toned. Sometimes bronzers read a bit warm on my skin (even warmer than they do in the pan) so I have to be careful what I choose. I’ve heard really great things about this bronzer though!

    • In winter I am really pale so warm toned bronzers don’t really suit me, I prefer cool toned ones.

  • What stunning packaging and I must try some contouring makeup!

  • I dont really contour much but it looks like it will be perfect for contouring

  • I have never tried to contour as I’m not the best at makeup application I think it looks lovely though if dome properly. I was never aware of it until the Kardashian Hype, Gemma x

    • I am also not the best, but I am trying to learn 🙂 x

  • I rarely contour, only if I film/take blog pictures or wear a really full coverage foundation, so i don’t own a dedicated contouring product. When I do I use the MAC Harmony powder blush, which seems to be similar by your description. But in the vides I feel like it isn’t doing enough, so i am contemplating getting something “stronger”.

Linda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking

    • I don’t have any dedicated contouring product as well, but I want to invest on cream contour palette (ABW would be great!). At least I can try to experiment and see if I can achieve what all these people.

      • That palette would be great. If only it wasn’t so expensive.

  • I love to contour but I haven’t used this one. I would love to get my hands on some theBalm bits…must get on that 🙂

    Pams Stuff and Things

    • I really like theBalm products. They are really good 🙂

  • Haha I hadn’t heard of contouring until the craze either! This Bahama Mama product looks like a great shade- I totally agree that buildable products win when it comes to contouring! I use the Barry M contouring palette- it’s pretty awesome! It has three different shades and i find that it blends quite nicely

    Rachel xx

    • I don’t have any palette, but I want to get at least one. Maybe I can achieve that perfect contouring look 🙂 x

  • Looks interesting ♡ Love its design ♡

♡ Blue and purple tones ♡

  • Lauren Letizio

I am not very good at doing my makeup, but I give a little effort some days. I recently read somewhere that contouring with powder is much better for daytime vs. using the creams etc. Not too sure if that is true or not but hey! I think this bronzer looks great. I am looking for a new one as mine is almost gone so maybe I should give it a try!

    • I haven’t used any cream contouring products, but powders. I agree with what you read, with powder you get more natural look but with cream ones you get that full face makeup. This one gives such a nice colour to the face, I would highly recommend it. xx

  • Roberta Romeo

I love this shade! *-* I think this is the perfect product for the perfect contouring!
I’m using my new blush for Kiko to countour my face, especially my forehead and my jaw bone ^-^

I always think the packaging looks cute but I’m not a massive fan of cardboard!

  • Instead of contouring kits I just use a bit of bronzer as a contour.. and have been doing so since 2007 (high school!). Being pale sucks:D

    • I am pale in winter, but I get some tan in summer 🙂 Even though I like to use my bronzer, I would like to invest on a contouring palette 🙂

  • I’ve never used this bronzer , does it come as liquid as well?

  • I am trying to finish up all my current bronzers before I buy anything else, but this looks like such a great option and such cute packaging too. I am really loving theBalm as a brand at the moment, they are fantastic x

    Beauty with charm

    • I only have a few products, and I really like the quality of them. xx

  • I havent tried anything from theBalm yet, although when I saw it in Superdrug I was so tempted. But I feel like I have too many contour powders already, so I’ll have to restrain myself for the moment lol. At the moment I’m using the grey shade in my ABH Contour Kit. I also have a Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder, which I find works really well too. – Beauty, Skin and Hair Care Haul

    • I want ABH so bad, I just have to resist a bit more. You should really try some theBalm products, they are really good.

  • I still haven’t tried this brand yet! I always go over to it in Superdrug but they are always sold out!! Boo 🙁 I would love to try this myself, I love all their eyeshadow palettes also!

  • I’ve never tried these products but this has really intrigued me! I swatched the Mary-Lou minizer in store a while ago and the payoff was amazing! Some of the packaging seems really awkward and not meant for travel though.

    • Mary-Lou is gorgeous, I love how soft and pigmented it is. I prefer the packaging of Mary-Lou, instead of the cardboard packaging. x

  • This is one of my favourite bronzers, I am obsessed with the grey tone to it and I agree, it could suit a variety of skintones because its pretty versatile ^_^ plus it is so travel friendly!

    • Definitely check it out, it is pretty and looks so natural! x

  • Oh this sounds wonderful! I’m with you on your thoughts on cardboard packaging – like the Benefit blushes, I never want to take them when I travel since I’m worried the packaging will get absolutely ruined. I hope I can try some products from TheBalm this year! Specifically that gorgeous Mary Lou-Manizer!

    Cindy |

    • You’ll love Mary-Lou, it is a gorgeous highlighter and the pigmentation is great!

  • I’ve never done contouring, I’m so useless with makeup haha!

But it sounds like a lovely product, aside from the packaging not being the style you prefer.

  • Contouring is not something I’m really familiar with and although I do own a few products, it’s still something I havent at all mastered. But something I’d love to learn nonetheless. This shade looks like the perfect shade though so I’ll definitely look into it. So thank you.

  • The Sunday Mode

I haven’t tried this particular bronzer but I do love to do a little daily contouring. Nothing crazy but a little depth to my cheekbones is always appreciated! I think my biggest tip would just be to blend, blend, blend.

    • I’ve only tried proper contouring a few times, it is really time consuming because of all these blending like you said.

  • I love Mary Lou Manizer but haven’t tried the bronzer yet. Looks like a great colour for light to medium skin tones. Will have a look at it next time I’m near Debenhams. x
